However, there is a difference between Sales Copywriting and Content Writing. In both cases, we want to connect with the reader and try to get their attention to the content. But the primary focus of Sales Copywriting is to sell ( or conversion ).
Where in the case of Content Writing the main purpose is to engage the reader with our content. More relevant, meaningful, easy to understand, and informative the content is, our chances of getting more traffic will increase. This will help to create a brand value.

So how to develop an effective copywriting skill which can help to fetch traffic and eventually more sales? I have discussed some techniques below which are adopted by many Companies.
I have spent significant time on research to find out the most effective ways of writing a killer copy and implemented them for my personal business and growth. By the end of this blog, you will have enough ideas to write a great persuasive copy. Just follow these points when you are writing your blogs or emails.
1. Curiosity Based Headlines
A thought-provoking headline does the initial magic to engage visitors. We are human and by nature, we like surprises and unpredictable incidents. We like someone who is providing fast and easy solutions to a problem.
If you create a headline e.g. “9 PROVEN WAYS TO REDUCE WEIGHT IN JUST 7 DAYS !! “. This headline must be associated with a blog post that is targeting people who are looking for solutions to reduce their weight.
This type of headline will create curiosity within the readers who are in need of some real guidelines to reduce their weight. It is also called a hook. It will attract visitors. Site or blog post visitors will be attached to your content fast and further things will happen based on how you have developed your content.
2. Who are your Target Audience ?
I just mentioned that weight loss related articles or post will create more curiosity for people who are searching for related topics. So it’s important to identify our Audience before we start writing any blog, content or post, etc.
It is always a better approach to figure out who are your target audiences and how they are going to be benefited from your blog posts.
You should do all the necessary steps to write your blog/ post/ article so that you can reach out to them once it is published on the WEB or as an email body. Otherwise, it will be very difficult to survive in the copywriting world.
A successful blogger must pick a micro-niche before even start writing any blog.
3. The Story
Every human being has a story associated to his / her life. Some stories are really common among all of us e.g. incidents happened related to our personal lives, Mental or Physical Health, Wealth related ( Money Making ) or Relationship related.
Every human being has either gone through a bad time or has lost someone due to Medical/ Health-related problems such as the Corona pandemic. I have mentioned above a headline about Weight loss strategies.
Many people cant have a normal life or even die from heart-related diseases as an outcome of obesity.
There are many diseases causing severe health problems. So if you are writing a blog addressing a solution to at least one of these pain points which are very close to their hearts ( they lost someone very special ), it’s really gonna make a difference.
Similarly, it is true for Relationships, Breakups. A headline such as “How to find the Dreamgirl of your life: 6 easy steps ” etc with a detailed blog will fetch significant traffic as it connects many people. It’s a common desire for many of us to find our dream partner.
Why do you think there are so many Dating, Marriage and Social apps around. To all your surprises, these have probably millions or even some of them have billions of dollars $$ of revenue.
They are doing nothing but addressing the pain points and connecting all of us through our desire to be in a relationship.
Similarly, a macro niche of Wealth Creation is very effective for bloggers.
The stories of “Rags to Riches ” are always very attention-grabbing.
We love to read stories like “From homeless To the Owner of six restaurants making revenue of 10 Million dollars a year in Just 6 years “.
we come across these types of stories often. They motivate common people and attach them with the blog/ Post pretty fast.
Follow AIDA formula
If you haven’t heard about this term already, then let me clarify this is not something to do with any health insurance coverage. LOL !! Many established marketing agencies use this as a standard for their successful copywriting techniques.
AIDA stands for
- Attention
- Interest
- Desire
- Action
Attention
This is the first step of the AIDA formula. In this step, you need to create curiosity to attract the readers to get their attention. It can be done by
- Writing an attention-grabbing or curiosity provoking headline
- Creating an Interactive Video and leaving a question mark at the end to create an urge so the readers must read the rest of the blog to find the answer.
- Posting an attractive image which can create curiosity and interest to the users.
Interest
There are millions of content available online and millions being created globally. Research says that every minute 200 million contents are published online. When readers land on an article or post, they just skim or scan through it. The average scanning time is around 8 seconds.
So we are in a highly competitive area of work as a blogger. Within a couple of seconds, you need to create interest in your readers’ minds through your content.
your content needs to be appealing and must provide values to the reader as he/ she is spending valuable time on your post and not reading another post which can add more value.
The first paragraph should play the most vital role after the catchy headline to get readers’ attention and make them stick to the content throughout.
So before you publish any article make sure you have done enough research on that topic and its full of valuable information in terms of data, graphs, charts, infographics, video contents and keep the reader satisfied at the end of the reading. It should not be a wastage of time and makes the reader angry.
Desire
As I mentioned earlier, in the case of sales copywriting the main purpose is to SALE. You need to persuade your client to buy your products or services for all the right reasons. So this stage is mainly useful for writing a sales copy.
We need to tell our customers, the benefits of buying a particular product or service. How the use of this product or service make a better impact on their lives?
E.g. In case of promoting and selling a weight-loss product, generally, you put pictures of a person that shows how does he look before and after the use of that weight-loss product.

Action
This is the last stage of AIDA. In this stage, you have to create urgency and importance to convince the reader ( prospective buyer/ customer ) to actually buy the product/service.
There should be a CTA ( Call to Action Button ) which asks the reader to click on that and do further proceedings.
Most of the time the CTA button is associated with some offer e.g Free bonus ( or discounts e.g. 75% etc ) along with the main item to buy. Offer plays an important role to persuade the customer to buy the stuff immediately.
Sometimes we have to create the urgency to buy such as “Offer ends TODAY !!“
E.g. Original Price is $199 but if you buy now, you will get it for only $199 $9.99, for a 95% discount.

- Sales end on June 31st
- Don’t miss out
- doors close on this Friday
If the offer is really good and tempting ( or irresistible) customer gets motivated to buy pretty fast.
Testimonials / Proof

Testimonials are a must while you are writing a sales copy to your client. It helps to develop faith and build trust for you. It makes you more genuine as a person.
Use of Simple and Easy words
A very important characteristic of a good copy is its approach-ability towards its readers. Try not to use very fancy jargon or words. It makes the reader confused.
A reader can be from different backgrounds. If they don’t understand the meaning of a word they won’t react. Your copy doesn’t have to follow all the textbook grammars.
It must be plain, coincide, simple, and easy to read. At the same time, it should address the concern. whether it’s a sales letter regarding a product or service or any content to engage readers.
A friendly and welcoming copy is very much appreciated. It’s just like a written version of your verbal communication with your close friend.
